Box bridges: The sturdy alternative

Steel box bridges are a sturdy alternative to the heavy, cumbersome concrete bridges that are often an eyesore in the infrastructure.

The weight of a box bridge is only 25% of that of a similar bridge in concrete. Because they are so much lighter, steel bridges require simpler foundations; using steel foundations is also an option.

Standard box bridges are available in any length and width and for any traffic category.

Box bridges have the following advantages:

  • maintenance-friendly air-tight welded box construction that dirt can’t gather in;
  • limited painted surface area of box structure which is maintenance-friendly;
    durability: at least 50 years with average maintenance;
  • very user-friendly, flat, no-obstacle bridge;
  • maximum passage height due to restricted construction height of the bridge deck;
  • wide selection of handrail styles;
  • the weight of a box bridge is 25% of that of a comparable concrete bridge.

Production and assembly comply with NEN ISO 9001 and SCC**.
